We’re looking for one new person to occupy one of our front offices. This would suit a photographer or videographer but we will consider other creatives. 24hr access, private office/storage, discounted studio hire. Available from 1st May 2022. Our expansive converted warehouse comprises crisp white walls, painted concrete flooring, high ceilings and south facing industrial windows that bring in soft natural light all day. With approachable rates and flexible hiring options, GSS appeals to photographers and videographers in all stages of their practice. Our studios are ideal for a variety of applications from intimate portraiture, look books and still life, through to larger scale styled productions, film clips and editorial shoots.STUDIOS
Small StudioA 6m x 3.5m space comprising of two large white plaster walls, background system for paper rolls (BYO paper or hire upon request) and grey painted concrete floor. The Small Studio is suitable for up to 3 person crews only. More information →Full day $330 (n/a weekends)

Big Studio
This 7m x 6m space comprises of a white plaster wall and a white painted brick wall with high ceiling trusses and a white painted concrete floor. Big Studio hire includes use of the surrounding meeting space and hair and make up area. The Big Studio is suitable for up to 8 person crews only. More information →

Whole StudioThis 180m² space is suitable for video shoots, film clips, larger scale productions, projects involving set design or closed set shoots. Whole Studio hire includes the use of both the Small Studio and Big Studio and surrounding areas. The Whole Studio is suitable for up to 20 person crews only. More information →

FAQ
Do you have equipment I can use?Sorry, no. If you need specific equipment for a shoot, we suggest you contact Specular, Sun Studios or Offshoot Rentals.
Does everyone need to be double vaccindated to enter the studio?
Yes, in line with vic health guidelines, we are able to welcome all fully vaccinated clients, contractors and guests.
We are filming and need to record sound. Is the studio suitable?
GSS is a great warehouse space for filming, but the building has not been sound proofed. Noises from outside can be heard inside the building so we don’t recommend the studio if you need to record sound. The whole studio is required for video.
Can we black out the studio?
Yes, we have black out curtains. If you want control over the black out curtains, you’ll need to hire the whole studio.
I don’t have any insurance, can I still hire the studio?
You’ll need proof of public liability insurance to hire the space. We want everyone to have the peace of mind that they are covered if an accident occurred. We are responsible folk and encourage you to be too.
I’m a student, can I get a discount?
Our prices are already reasonable, we can’t lower them further. However we do have a sponsorship program available with some institutions. Please chat with us about getting your school on board.
I only need the studio from 10am–3pm. Can I book a half day?
You’ll need to book the whole day. Half day shoots are from 8am–1pm or 1pm–6pm and only available during the week.
Which studio space should I hire?
We get asked this question a lot so made this little guide to assist:
Small Studio: suitable for intimate portrait/fashion shoots, small product and still life. Please consider the possibility of another shoot unfolding in the adjacent studio, and whether or not this will impact your own shoot. If you have more than 3 people in your crew, we ask that you book the Big Studio.
Big Studio : suitable for fashion shoots, product photography, full length portraits, styled shoots. Please consider the possibility of another shoot unfolding in the adjacent studio, and whether or not this will impact your own shoot. If you have more than 8 people in your crew, we ask that you book the Whole Studio.
Whole Studio: suitable for video shoots, film clips, larger scale productions, projects involving set design, closed set shoots. This is the perfect option if you’re after exclusive use of the entire studio, maximum space and freedom. The Whole Studio can accomodate crews of up to 20 people only.
