FAQ
Do you have equipment I can use? There’s 4x c-stands with arms, 12x poly’s, 2x studio cambo stands, trestle tables, apple boxes, clothes racks, ladders, tables on wheels, trolleys, 2x steamers and hangers included in the hire.
If you need specific equipment or lighting for a shoot, we suggest you contact Camvan who is conveniently located close by.
We are filming and need to record sound. Is the studio suitable?
GSS is a great warehouse space for filming, but the building is not sound proof. Noises from outside can be heard inside the building including some cute little birds who have nested in the roof, so we don’t recommend the studio if you need to record sound.
The whole studio is required for any video shoots.
Can we black out the studio?
Yes, we have black out curtains.
If you want control over the black out curtains, you’ll need to hire the whole studio.
I don’t have any insurance, can I still hire the studio?
Someone in the crew needs to provide their public liability insurance to hire the space. This is not negotiable.
We want everyone to have the peace of mind that they are covered with a policy they are familiar with; their own.
I’m a student/NGO can I get a discount?
Our prices are already very reasonable. However we do have a limited sponsorship offereing. Send us an email with your project.
I only need the studio from 10am–3pm. Can I book a half day?
You’ll need to book the whole day. Half day shoots are from 8am–1pm or 1pm–6pm including bump in and bump out. This allows for 2 half day shoots per day.
Which studio space should I hire?
We get asked this question a lot and take your needs seriously.
Small Studio: suitable for test shoots, small products and tight budgets. It’s likely another shoot will be in the adjacent studio, so consider if this will impact your own shoot.
If you have more than 3 people in your crew, or need HMU, change room, we ask that you book the Big Studio.
Big Studio : suitable for fashion, product photography, full length portraits, styled shoots. Please consider the possibility of another shoot happening in the small studio, and whether or not this will impact your own shoot.
If you have more than 8 people in your crew, or you would like a bit more privacy, we ask that you book the Whole Studio.
Whole Studio: suitable for video shoots, film clips, food shoots, projects involving sets, closed set shoots and if you want the privacy of having the whole space and your choice of music. This is the perfect option if you’re after exclusive use of the entire studio, maximum space and freedom. Includes full use of the kitchen.
The Whole Studio can accomodate crews of up to 15 people only.
We’ve got a set to build or things to drop off before the shoot. Can we come and bump in the day before?
Absolutely. Additional hourly rates apply, or you may consider another half day booking.
We’re shooting a cook book. Do you have rates for consecutive bookings?
